Ministry Update: Education Is Freedom

Victor Hugo once said, ”He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” Since returning home from Cambodia this past spring, my vision to build a schoolhouse for sex-trafficked girls became a priority for me and OneVOICE4freedom. In less than five months of campaigning to bring this school to life, we raised all of the $17,500 needed. Last month we broke ground in the Cambodian countryside and, in approximately six months, our safe-house school will be complete! This school will be a place where up to sixty girls rescued from child sex slavery will freely receive a safe, loving and quality Christian education. Through the education and caring community they will receive at the safe-house school, these survivors will not only receive a high school diploma, healing love, and community, but they will learn a new trade, gain a higher sense of self-worth and find purpose! All of this will prepare the girls to go on to university and become nation-changing women. At OneVOICE4freedom, we believe that together we can not only free captives, but bring an answer to a problem of injustice in the world. We believe that education is an answer; it is key to prevention of sex trafficking and is key to keeping girls from returning to those who have enslaved them. Once the school is ready, we want to fill it with desks, chairs, computers, and a teacher. We will send teams there to love on the girls and teach them new skills. And we will continue to spread our prevention education mission in the villages most targeted by traffickers. Our work doesn't begin and end on the other side of the world, though. We are at work right here in the U.S., educating parents, students, community leaders and churches, and partnering with other organizations who are meeting the needs of runaway and trafficked youth. As a voice of awareness and prevention, OneVOICE4freedom equips and empowers children and families who are most targeted by traffickers. And as a voice of hope and help, we provide resources, education and a future to those who have already been exploited. We need your help to continue all of this good work! Please visit our website and click GIVE to help fund our domestic initiative to stop trafficking here in the States. Your donation will  help us train leaders around the world on how to combat child sex trafficking, and finally to  purchase desks, chairs, computers, pencils and books for our school girls in Cambodia. By supporting this cause you can be a hero to these girls who need us…both on the other side the world and right here in our own backyards.
